Site Manager - Broughton Area

Broughton area is currently seeking candidates for the challenging position of Site Manager at Upper Retreat.

As Site Manager, reporting to the Production Manager, you will be accountable for the safe and successful operation of your farm site, effectively managing a production team to grow the best quality fish in a cost-effective manner. You will be responsible for all aspects of farm operations, including staffing, fish husbandry, maintenance of your site and equipment, short and long-term planning, managing your budget, and complete reporting and records keeping.

The successful candidate will have strong demonstrated skills in communication, people management, production planning, and extensive training/experience in fish husbandry. You will be self-motivated, well organized, results-driven and have a positive attitude. Relevant education is a definite asset.

Maintenance Manager - Dalrymple Hatchery

Marine Harvest Canada is currently seeking an individual to join our team as the full-time, permanent Maintenance Manager at our Dalrymple hatchery near Sayward, on beautiful Northern Vancouver Island. Reporting to the Hatchery Manager, the incumbent will coordinate and manage the maintenance of the facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and lead staff in the preventative maintenance and repair of all equipment.
  • Manage, direct and schedule the maintenance personnel.
  • Liaise with government agencies as required.
  • Source and order all parts and maintain spare parts inventory.
  • Initiate training within department as required.
  • Ensure the safety and training of maintenance staff and of outside contractors working on site as per Marine Harvest Canada policy and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • "Red Seal" certified in a relevant trade
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years maintenance management/supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of PLC’s
  • Ability to develop and manage a preventative maintenance program.
  • Must be a demonstrated decision-maker who easily interacts with others.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and e-mail, a definite asset.

Maintenance Technician - Klemtu Processing

We are seeking applications from candidates for a Maintenance Technician position in our Klemtu processing plant. This is a "hands-on" position responsible for:

  • identifying repair and maintenance priorities
  • carrying out repairs on equipment, machinery, and facilities
  • providing support for the sanitation team
  • assisting with production
  • ensuring safety and quality standards

Qualifications include: 1+ year experience as a maintenance technician, with a strong mechanical background. Trade certification is not required but is preferred. Level 3 First Aid certification is an asset, however, we would provide training for the right candidate

Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, planning and organization skills, and the ability to work with minimum supervision are essential. Preference will be given to qualified candidates with experience in food processing.

Hatchery Technicians

Our Big Tree Creek Hatchery is currently seeking applications for the position of Hatchery Technician. Duties include a variety of production tasks such as feeding and caring for salmon fry, grading by size, disease screening, cleaning and maintaining tanks and related equipment, conducting flow measurements and water quality checks, assisting with fish health sampling, vaccination and record keeping.

Successful candidates will have freshwater finfish aquaculture experience or related knowledge included, experience and/or education.
