Deckhand - Orca Vessels

We are seeking applications from candidates for a deckhand position. Reporting to the Vessel Skippers, your primary role will be as a well boat deckhand. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in moving fish and providing support services to area farms.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Maintenance and organization of Deck
  • Cleaning and sanitization of work and fish handling areas
  • Engine room maintenance
  • Cooking and cleaning

To be successful in this role, candidates will possess the following qualifications:

  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Eagerness to train as an engineer
  • Highly organized, with good time management skills
  • STCW basic Marine Safety
  • Team player – ability to share galley duties
  • Good communications skills and developed interpersonal abilities (including conflict resolution abilities)
  • Self-motivated, able to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively in a high intensity, physically demanding project related environment.
  • Ability to perform shift work, 2 weeks on 1 week off

Salary will be commensurate with experience/qualifications.

Deckhand Position - Campbell River Production Area

We are seeking applications for deckhand positions in our Campbell River production area. Reporting to the vessel Skipper, your primary role will be as a Deckhand on our work boats. In this role, you will be responsible for providing support services to area farms for project related activities such as net washing, grading, harvesting and site set-up and tear-down. You will be responsible for ensuring that these services are provided in a timely and efficient manner.

To be successful in this role, candidates will possess the following preferred qualifications:

  • Good knowledge and skills in salmon farming operations with a minimum of 2 years experience
  • Boat operating experience with a PCOC; SVOP certificate preferred
  • Highly organized, with good time management skills
  • Good communications skills and developed interpersonal abilities (including conflict resolution abilities)
  • Self-motivated, able to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively in a high intensity, physically demanding project related environment.

Wage will be commensurate with experience/qualifications. This is a camp position (4:3 shift).

Farm Technicians

We are currently recruiting for Farm Technicians. As a Farm Technician, you will be part of a production team striving to grow the best quality fish in a cost-effective manner.

Your duties will include feeding and all other fish husbandry responsibilities, maintenance, repairs and upgrading of your site and equipment, maintaining health and safety and environmental management procedures and site reporting and records keeping responsibilities.

The successful candidates for these positions will have farming experience/training. You will be self-motivated, well organized, and have a positive attitude. These are 8:6 camp-based positions.

Hatchery Technician

Our Freshwater Operations are currently seeking applications for the position of Hatchery Technician. Duties include a variety of production tasks such as feeding and caring for salmon fry, grading by size, disease screening, cleaning and maintaining tanks and related equipment, conducting flow measurements and water quality checks, assisting with fish health sampling, vaccination and record keeping.

Successful candidates will have freshwater finfish aquaculture experience or related knowledge included, experience and/or education.
