Site Manager – Upper Retreat
Broughton Area

Broughton area is currently seeking candidates for the challenging position of Site Manager at Upper Retreat.

As Site Manager, reporting to the Production Manager, you will be accountable for the safe and successful operation of your farm site, effectively managing a production team to grow the best quality fish in a cost-effective manner. You will be responsible for all aspects of farm operations, including staffing, fish husbandry, maintenance of your site and equipment, short and long-term planning, managing your budget, and complete reporting and records keeping.

The successful candidate will have strong demonstrated skills in communication, people management, production planning, and extensive training/experience in fish husbandry. You will be self-motivated, well organized, results-driven and have a positive attitude. Relevant education is a definite asset.

Warehouse Technician Englewood Service Centre

We are currently recruiting for a North Island resident (Port Hardy/Port McNeill) with demonstrated safe work habits and a positive “can-do” attitude for the position of Warehouse Technician for our Englewood Service Centre reporting to the Yard Supervisor. Responsibilities include:

  • Packing and preparing shipments
  • Completing appropriate shipping documentation
  • Handling materials in accordance with WHMIS and Transportation of Hazardous Goods
  • Physically and electronically receiving goods
  • Identifying and labeling items as required
  • Maintaining organized storage areas

The successful candidate for this position will have one to two years experience in a warehousing or shipping/receiving type role and a valid driver’s license. Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel and Outlook), an organized approach to work and the ability to work with minimal supervision are all key requirements of this position. Forklift certification would be an asset.

Quality Assurance Field Coordinator

Position Summary:

The QA Field Coordinator visits Marine Harvest customers to inspect and verify customer claims related to our product quality and resolves such issues with customers to bring claims to a satisfactory conclusion. The incumbent will expected to travel regularly to customer locations .

The QA Field Coordinator spends the majority of his/her time closing claims in a timely manner to support Marine Harvest operations. The incumbent has the ability to manage the claims load and maintain accurate documentation. Additionally, he/she maintains confidentiality, which is critical to maintaining good customer relations and avoiding a negative impact on the Company.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Visit customer processing facilities to investigate issues and the reasons for product claim; Generate visits reports including a full description of the processing steps from reception of raw material, transformation and final product.
  • Assess claims and verify financial cost of product claims;
  • Reviews customer processing equipment and methods and advises on ways to reduce downgrades;
  • Perform a follow-up of the raw material quality results covering MHC processing plants and clients processing facilities.
  • Negotiate with customers to reduce the value of claims as appropriate;
  • Collect documentation of all claims in a timely and accurate manner, including gathering of photos and samples as appropriate;
  • Identify potential supply chain issues that may be impacting product quality.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Top notch time management and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work effectively with internal associates as well as external customers;
  • Ability to professionally represent the interests of Marine Harvest;
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills and the ability to develop relationships;
  • Functional computer skills with MS Office;
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and meet deadlines;
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential material and information in an ethical, professional manner;
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis;

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma (Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or relevant field preferred)
  • 3+ years of related experience in a quality assurance role in the food processing industry, preferably in seafood

Farm Technicians

We are currently recruiting for Farm Technicians. As a Farm Technician, you will be part of a production team striving to grow the best quality fish in a cost-effective manner.

Your duties will include feeding and all other fish husbandry responsibilities, maintenance, repairs and upgrading of your site and equipment, maintaining health and safety and environmental management procedures and site reporting and records keeping responsibilities.

The successful candidates for these positions will have farming experience/training. You will be self-motivated, well organized, and have a positive attitude. These are 8:6 camp-based positions.

Hatchery Technician

Our Freshwater Operations are currently seeking applications for the position of Hatchery Technician. Duties include a variety of production tasks such as feeding and caring for salmon fry, grading by size, disease screening, cleaning and maintaining tanks and related equipment, conducting flow measurements and water quality checks, assisting with fish health sampling, vaccination and record keeping.

Successful candidates will have freshwater finfish aquaculture experience or related knowledge included, experience and/or education.
