After a year of planning, the Surge Narrows Community Dock (north end of Quadra Island) is complete! A team effort between the Strathcona Regional District, Searoamer Marine Services, DKS Welding, MHC and the Surge Narrows Community made possible the new dock that enables access for locals to their homes on remote islands.
MHC has a long history of supporting this dock that dates back to the early 1990’s. Marine Harvest provided the dock and materials for anchoring. The project was spearheaded by James Rogers, Area Manager for Campbell River South. Other MHC staff involved in the project were Roger King, Owen Green and Fabian McCarty.
A celebration was held on Read Island in June which included a potlatch lunch and a salmon BBQ (farmed, of course!). Check out our website for more information and photos – www.marineharvestcanada.com
