Marine Harvest Canada (MHC) chefs and volunteers are ready for a busy holiday weekend in support of several local charities. Hundreds of delicious salmon burgers will be barbequed and sold in support of cancer research and the British Columbia Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund.
On Saturday, June 30th, 17 Dragon Boat teams from all parts of Vancouver Island will gather near Dick Murphy Park in Campbell
River for the 2nd annual Dragon Boat Festival. MHC has donated its salmon, staff and barbeque trailer to help feed all participants and spectators. Lunch is by donation with all proceeds going toward a cancer related charity. Salmon burgers and a side dish will be served from 11 am to 1 pm.
Then on Sunday, July 1st, MHC will team up again with Campbell River Fire Fighters to serve the public at the city’s Canada Day celebrations being held at Ostler Park (located downtown Campbell River). Barbequed salmon burgers, side dishes and drinks will be served starting at 1 pm. 100% of proceeds from the barbeque will go toward the BC Fire Fighters Burn Fund.
Marine Harvest invites anyone to come and visit these locations this weekend to enjoy a delicious barbeque salmon burger and to support some very deserving charities.
Marine Harvest Canada is British Columbia’s largest salmon aquaculture company, employing 500 Island residents at operations located on Vancouver Island and surrounding waters.
